FAQ

Why is the park not open all day?

     * Roger Allen Park is a dedicated private youth sports facility made possible through the generous support of private donations and the fees collected from each sports league that utilizes our fields and operates within the park. To maintain the high standards of facility, it is essential that we keep the property in excellent condition for the benefit of all our tenants at all times.

What happened to the Playground?

     * The playground at Roger Allen Park had fallen into disrepair, posing safety risks for young children due to its aging pressure-treated wood, which had dried and was splintering. Although the City of Rochester generously donated equipment from the commons, it could not be safely reassembled at the park. The Board of Directors recognizes the need for new playground equipment, but there are several other pressing priorities that must be addressed first.

Can the park be used for private events?

     * Feel free to reach out to our Board of Directors regarding inquiries about single-use special events for worthwhile community causes. Please remember that the four leagues using the park are paying tenants with annual leases, and maintaining their spaces for their activities is our top priority. If your cause aligns with our values and we can coordinate timing with the leagues, we would be happy to explore possibilities. Inquire Here. - CONTACT US

Why are no pets allowed in the park?

     * The park has been thoughtfully designed as a dedicated youth sports facility to address the lack of baseball, softball, soccer, and youth football fields in the City of Rochester. As a privately funded and maintained park, it is not accessible to the general public. To ensure the safety of our young athletes and volunteers, we have implemented a "No Pets Allowed" policy. This measure helps minimize unnecessary risks and keeps our facility in pristine condition, free from pet damage and waste. The only exception to this policy is for service animals, which must wear their service vests at all times while on the premises.

What is the alcohol and tobacco use policy in the park?

     * Roger Allen Park is a designated no alcohol and no tobacco facility, dedicated to fostering a safe environment for today's youth athletes. Our commitment is to uphold the integrity of this space as we teach young athletes how to grow into responsible adults. To ensure safety during tournaments and large events, a police presence will be on-site. Any individual found using alcohol or tobacco will be escorted from the premises and will not be permitted to return.

Does the park have a policy on drug usage?

     * NO DRUGS ALLOWED on park premises. Should anyone be under suspicion of drug usage while within the park, law enforcement will be notified immediately. The park maintains a ZERO Tolerance policy on drug usage.

Are there "real bathrooms" located in the park?

     * Each league is responsible for providing accessible restroom facilities to the public during the season. While some leagues may have indoor restrooms, the upkeep—including cleaning, stocking, and maintenance—falls solely on them. As a result, many leagues choose to rent portable restrooms, which are regularly, cleaned, and restocked by the rental companies.

What about weapons and hunting on the property?

     * Roger Allen Park is private property with NO TRESSPASSING signs posted throughout. Weapons of any kind are not allowed within the park with exception of law enforcement with proper identification. Hunting of any kind is NOT ALLOWED in the park at any time. Anyone found in the park with weapons or for the purpose of hunting will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law. This park is for youth athletes please respect the safety of our youth.

How do I know which field by child is playing on?

     * The park was designed in sections. As you enter the park the first sports fields are football on the right and left, immediately followed by baseball fields on both sides. As you make your way around the park you will come to the softball fields on the right followed by the soccer fields on the right before you make your way to the exit road.

Who maintains the park?

     * The park is maintained by professional local businesses who bid on the project(s) with the Board of Directors. The park pays for the services of lawn care, infield (dirt) work, irrigation service, fertilizers and weed control, plant health, and maintenance of our wells. We do not have a specific service to ensure the park is clean from debris on a daily basis, nor do we employ a service for spring clean-up or fall-clean-up. These services are provided by the individual leagues through ongoing volunteer efforts.
